It was 7am and the dew was dripping. The weather was chilly but clear blue skies giving us promise of a warm sunny day.
After much flaffing and picking various players up, we finally arrived at Danson Park in Kent – an outdoor polo venue.
Being the League Organiser for Div 3S there was much to do and soon it was time to play.
The first game was tough but we won by 1-0 and the second game by 2-1. Then we played Clapham who have a reputation for winning – and duly did beat us by 4-0. With the fourth game, the sun was in our eyes for the first half but we managed to use our older and wiser skills to win. Finally, feeling tired by the time we played our fifth game, and knew we would win as we’ve beaten them before! The wind picked up giving us a head wind in the first half and seeing young inexperienced players, let our guard down causing us to lose 0-3..
In total we played 5 games wining 3 out of 5.
Then we got our chairs out and chilled with other teams and had a good chat sitting in the park with our ice creams.
We are 2nd place in the league after the 1st tournament – 3 more to go!
So a good start to the season.
