Burnham Sailing club had a race regatta on today so a few of us sea kayakers decided to try and race the sailing boats. However the sailors wanted better weather so 4 of us decided to start early. Course agreed with the Bridge and count down was away with start gun. John, Kit, Jerry and I shot off over the line down to marina buoy past buoy 11 and the up against the tide towards 1.
Finally with help from the wind we turned round 1 and headed back to the finish line with the slack tide against a force 3. (We stopped the clock for a capsize drill!!). 1 hour 31 mins later we crossed the finish line. We may have been pioneers but hopefully we can have more of us together next year racing.
